CRAMP FAMILY 

I have not managed to find any information regarding the Cramp family prior to Samuel Cramp born in 1600.  What is known since is this:

Samuel Cramp(e) born c1600 of Crowhurst who marriage is unknown (though his wife died and was buried 17 March, 1680/1 at Crowhurst) had three sons and a daughter.  Samuel died and was buried 11 April, 1683 at Crowhurst.

1.1     Samuel baptised 28/7/1633 buried 5/2/1703/4

1.2     John b 26/4/1635 buried 11/4/85 married 27 April, 1669 Anne Mary Wimble buried 17/3/1680/1 Crowhurst, whose father was William Wimble.

1.3     William baptised 12/11/1637 married (1) Joane, children Samuel and Elizabeth and married (2) Elizabeth, children Mercy, John, William

1.4     Mercy baptised 28/12/1646 and married 28 October, 1672 to Nicholas Weston.

  

John and Ann had two sons and a daughter

2.1     William born 1669 at St Clements, Hastings SSX died 1737 married 1693/4 to Hannah Jury at Hastings St Clements.

3.1     Samuel born 1695 Bexhill SSX a yeoman married 15 April, 1718 (source 7728403 serial sheet 30) at Lewes to Ann Palmer a spinster

The union of John and Elizabeth links a line known as the "Jury" Cramps, who arrived from England and settled in the Goulburn district of NSW (Refer Jury Cramp).

Samuel and Ann had eight sons and two daughters.

Nothing can be found to date regarding these children except John (4.4) born 7 March, 1725 (source 7728403 serial sheet 28) and baptised 27 March 1725 Catsfield SSX m Frances Smith b 22/11/1728 died 11/6/1773 and had eight children of their own (six boys and two girls). John died 8 July, 1790 and Frances died 11 June, 1773.

A family Bible exists, stating all births from John and was handed down to the eldest son of each generation.

6.1     George born 27/10/1814 at Hove in Sussex (source 6940413) a powder maker m Kekiah (Kezia) Burgess.

George and Kekiah to my knowledge so far had only two issue

7.2     William a builder’s foreman/plasterer born 10 October, 1842  at Bexhill Parish of Crowhurst  Sussex,  died 30/6/1894 aged 51 years at Newcastle  NSW of Carcinoma of the Liver   married  28 March, 1863  St Leonards SSX Mary Christmas born 8 March 1840, died 29 July, 1909 aged 69 years in Sydney .  Mary's father was Trayton Christmas, a farmer who married 22 September, 1833 at Ticehurst SSX, Mary Ann Sargeant.

William and Mary had five sons and one daughter
